For your Wood Doors and Cabinet Surfaces
The factory applied Duraguard topcoat offers the utmost protection for kitchen cabinet applications and provides superior chemical and common kitchen stain resistance while maintaining color and sheen. Duraguard topcoat requires minimal care and cleaning. We recommend periodic cleaning with a mild detergent and water solution to remove dirt, dust and grease that buildup with routine usage. Dampen a soft, non-abrasive cloth and wipe entire exterior surface of cabinetry and dry with a soft cloth. Never use a wet cloth that allows water to run down the cabinetry and always dry cabinetry immediately if water is spilled onto the surface.
Care should be taken not to use abrasive cleaners, ammonia or any other type of harsh chemical. These cleaning agents may cause discoloration, scratching, marring, and dulling of the finish. We also discourage use of furniture polishes and waxes on finished cabinetry. Furniture polishes alter the original sheen level and may leave a film on the surface that attracts the dust and dirt. Theses polishes may also cause an irregular or blotchy appearance because they are unable to stand up to many common kitchen stains.
For your Decorative Laminate Veneer (DLV) doors and cabinet surfaces
DLV doors , drawers, and cabinet surfaces can be cleaned using a mild non-abrasive detergent and damp sponge or cloth. Never saturate DLV products with water or other liquids.
• Heat Resistance: DLV products have been subjected to heat over 200 degrees and showed no evidence of delamination. Due to high heat given off by self cleaning ovens, we recommend that you open your cabinet doors and remove drawers that are beside or above your oven when in self clean operation.
• Ultra Violet Exposure: DLV materials are not susceptible to color changes typically associated with UV exposure. Under normal lighting conditions DLV products will change very little in color or tone.
For your Laminate Counter Tops
1. Use mild liquid soap and water or citrus cleaner to clean the countertop.
2. Do not place hot pots or pans directly on the surface of the countertop. Use hot pads or trivets to protect your countertop from heat in excess of 275F, or prolonged exposure to heat 140F, or higher.
3. Do not chop, slice, pound or hammer, on the countertop.
4. Do not leave water to puddle in areas of seams, edges, joints or cutouts as it may cause substrate to swell.
5. Ceramic or other abrasive objects will cause scratching and premature wearing of the countertop.
6. Do not use abrasive cleaners; powders, scouring pads or steel wool to clean the countertop.
7. Laminate countertops are not stain-proof; use caution when working with products that may cause stains.
8. Acid or alkaline based cleaners, compounds, etc., will mar, etch, corrode, and permanently discolor laminates. Examples of these are: drain cleaners, rust removers, toilet bowl cleaners, oven cleaners, chlorine bleach, tub & tile cleaners, & metal cleaners.
For your LivingStone (Acrylic) Counter Tops
1. Remove dirt and residue with soapy water or an ammonia-based cleaner. Rinse and wipe dry.
2. Prevent hard water marks by wiping surfaces dry after spills or cleaning. Ordinary vinegar removes most dried water spots.
3. Remove stubborn stains with full strength bleach or a liquid cleanser such as Soft Scrub with Bleach. Rinse with clear water and wipe dry.
4. Disinfect by wiping surfaces with mixture of one part water I one part household bleach. Rinse with clear water and wipe dry.
5. Clean sinks the same way you clean your countertop. Or use Soft Scrub liquid cleanser and a green Scotch-Brite® pad. Rub over the entire sink to blend in the finish.
6. Prevent heat damage by using trivets or hot pads under hot objects. Prolonged or extreme heat can cause discoloring. Also, allow cookware to cool before placing in a solid-surface sink.
7. Prevent other damage by not exposing your countertop to strong chemicals, such as paint removers, oven cleaners, etc. If contact does occur, rinse immediately and thoroughly with clear water. Don’t cut directly on LivingStone surfaces. Always run your faucet while pouring boiling water down solid surface sinks.
8. Remove minor cuts & scratches yourself with abrasive Scotch- Brite pads. Roughest to finest are green, peach, lilac, blue and gray. Start with a green pad. Wet the surface and rub in a small circular motion over the scratch or cut. Rinse pad periodically. When the scratch or cut is removed, wet the surface again and rub with progressively finer pads in larger and larger circles until the renewed area blends in with the surrounding surface. Rinse with clear water and wipe dry. Rinse pads and air dry before storing. Or, your retailer can provide professional refinishing. This service will be at your cost.
For your Granite or Hanstone “Quartz” Counter Tops
1. Clean stone surfaces with a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild dishwashing detergent with warm water and a soft cloth.
2. Too much cleaner may leave a film and cause streaks. This can be removed by buffing the tops with a dry cotton cloth.
3. Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Change the rinse water frequently.
4. Do not use scouring powders or creams; these products contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.
5. Cleaners and sealers are available for purchase at your local retail stores.
6. All spills should be cleaned up promptly to avoid staining the stone regardless of the type of sealer used.
Your granite is a piece of stone. Even thought it had resin applied at the quarry and sealer applied by the installer it may still absorb liquid and other stain causing items.
Care and Precautions
1. Use coasters under glasses, particularly those containing alcohol or citrus juices. Many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the surface of many stones over time.
2. Do not place hot items directly on the stone surface. Use trivets or mats under hot dishes and placemats under china, ceramic, silver or other objects that can scratch the surface.
